about brighton and hove concert orchestra
Brighton and Hove Concert Orchestra was formed over fifty years ago and continues to promote & perform music in the "light" genre, including popular overtures & suites, music from opera, ballet, films, musicals and TV.
We are a friendly group of amateur musicians who meet every week to rehearse in a relaxed, fun atmosphere whilst aiming to achieve a reasonably high standard. We present two or three concerts a year in local venues, one usually in aid of a charity.
Mike Lloyd successfully, cheerfully and enthusiastically ran and conducted the orchestra for many years until sadly he passed away in 2013. This left a vacuum filled later that year by our present conductor/MD, Graham Mussard, who has over the years encouraged and nurtured the orchestra into the full size concert orchestra it is today, now presenting concerts of high standard in larger capacity venues.
We are always delighted to welcome new members, so if you play an orchestral instrument and have reached around grade 5 standard or higher, please do visit our "joining" page to check for vacancies. We'd love to meet you!
